Her Waves

2025

I was invited by the French Institute to collaborate on celebrating International Women’s Day. I dug deep into my archive (2013–2024) to curate “Her Waves”—an exhibition that embodies the ripples created when a stone disrupts still water. It also symbolizes the maze of life where choices are sometimes limited, and a specific path must be followed, just as these women have done. Each ripple carries a project – a series of images and testimonies that tell and express the fluid flow of women like water, as they cope with and contain their experiences, and care for their families, enduring even the darkest times such as the turmoil of war. “Her Waves” is a narrative of the ability to influence and adapt in the complex maze of life.

I can’t thank enough @midos.sadek and Roby for the long nights and hard work that brought the installation to life, and @fatima_hisham for her patience in meticulously measuring the circles for the exhibition texts. A special thanks to @elsalfy for translating the entire exhibition into French.
